Remember the days when you were young and your grandparents would take you to the lolly store for a special treat? I do. It was always my favourite outing as a child. Flash forward twenty (or so) years and replace the lolly store with quirky fashion boutique Olga De Polga (ODP). With its whimsical appearance, you will enter with the same excitement as a kid in a candy store. The pieces are also exceptional (and just as whimsical).
Owner/Creator Olga Stone has brought her knowledge in textiles to her label using natural fabrics and many of her own prints (think galloping horses, friendly felines and geometric shapes just to name a few). Her true gift though is her clever use of colour which is used in such a way that can only be described as intoxicating. Customers are instantly drawn to the vibrancy of the mixed hues creating a rainbow so enticing you cannot help but look at every piece until you reach that inevitable pot of gold.
As a long-time customer my experience in ODP has been exactly that… An experience! I look forward to my trips there in the same way I did when I went to the lolly store as a child. I don’t know whether it’s the friendly staff whom greet you like they’ve known you for years, the treasure trove of eclectic pieces or just the overall aesthetic that pulls you in. Whatever it is, it makes you want to stay, forget your worries and spend some $$$ (and trust me you will ALWAYS walk out with something, it almost feels like a crime if you don’t!).
Don’t take my word for it though, experience it for yourself. Your inner ‘lolly loving’ child deserves to be treated every now and again….. (Calories not included).
