After a month of gawking at the fashion extravaganza that was international fashion month, I found myself falling into my usual PFD (Post Fashion Depression) that’s a thing right…??
Anyway, in this state I usually tend to relive the catwalks from seasons past or look forward to the runway reports from various glossy magazines. However, before the PFD took full affect I realised that I didn’t have to look further than my own doorstep as (drumroll please)… Melbourne Fashion Festival was here!!! Huzzah!! This time there was no need for watching live stream runways in my PJs; I could actually put on my Sunday best and witness what our home grown talent had to offer in the flesh (although I must admit watching fashion shows in my pyjamas was not the worst thing).
VAMFF (Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival) was in full force this year bringing us some amazing collections from seasoned Aussie designers along with some uber talented newbies. Colours, textures, sequins, jewels and prints came through thick and fast as I tried to restrain myself from reaching for the ever faithful (and equally damaging) credit card. There were too many collections to mention as I would probably have to take a leave of absence from work to go into depth but there were some definite stand outs…
My top 5 (in no particular order) were:
- Cameo (a mix of clever silhouettes and sports luxe)
- Camilla & Marc (simple and chic in rich shades of red)
- Ellery (Perfect proportions and interesting shapes unite)
- Ginger and Smart (Street Style and brilliant blues)
- Scanlan and Theodore (Tailored Perfection) and,
- Jolet (Crisp lines, winter hues and totally wearable!)
Ok I lied, I couldn’t pick 5! I may have also snuck in a few extra photos for your viewing pleasure. You’re welcome… xx
